NTEU Fights Back Against OPM’s Proposal to Create an Excessive and Unnecessary NDA
This week, NTEU filed comments opposing a proposed OPM Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). NTEU strongly opposes this form NDA because there is no justification for such a wide and sweeping restraint on employee speech, particularly when laws already exist to safeguard classified and other sensitive information. OPM does not limit the scope of the NDA in any meaningful or understandable way. In fact, the proposal impermissibly creates new obligations and threatens criminal penalties that do not exist.
This NDA proposal is nothing more than an attempt to frighten federal employees from communicating with their representatives and exercising their First Amendment rights.
We will continue to update you as we fight back against these attacks on federal employees.
