Appeals Court Sides With NTEU, Blocks CFPB Layoffs
Last week, NTEU and the American people had another big win when a federal appeals court sided with NTEU in blocking the administration from cutting two-thirds of the workforce at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit granted the administration’s motion to return the case to the District Court but rejected the administration’s request to resume staff cuts or impose a deadline on the district judge.
The District Court will now consider, with input from the parties, whether the preliminary injunction should be modified in any way.
This decision is a victory for American consumers and the NTEU members at CFPB who are dedicated to protecting them. NTEU will not stop fighting to ensure that CFPB employees, who have returned more than $21 billion to Americans who were victims of financial scams or fraud, can continue their important work for the American people.
