Agencies Encouraged to Offer Administrative Leave for COVID Vaccines The Office of Personnel Management continues to encourage agencies to provide up to four hours of administrative leave for employees to get COVID-19 vaccines or booster shots. The leave covers the time it takes to get the booster, along with the travel time to and from the vaccination site. Some contracts even require that this leave be granted. What has recently changed is that federal employees experiencing an adverse reaction to a vaccination or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and waiting to get tested must use sick or unpaid leave rather than administrative time. And, employees can no longer take administrative leave when accompanying a family member getting vaccinated. These changes flowed from the end of the COVID national emergency declaration last year. |
