Victory! This week, we celebrate NTEU’s big initial win in the D.C. District Court, where the judge granted a preliminary injunction that blocks the administration's order stripping union rights from employees at many NTEU-represented agencies. Mass Firings of Probationary Employees NTEU's Challenge to Governmentwide Attacks, including Mass Firings Case name: NTEU et al. v. Trump et al. Court: DC District Court NO UPDATE THIS WEEK AFGE’s Challenge to Mass Firings Case name: AFGE, AFL-CIO et al. v. OPM et al. Court(s): Northern District of California; 9th Circuit Court of Appeals; Supreme Court NO UPDATE THIS WEEK States’ Challenge to Mass Firings Case name: State of Maryland et al. v. USDA et al. Court(s): District of Maryland, 4th Circuit Court of Appeals UPDATE: Briefing on the preliminary injunction continues in the 4th Circuit. On April 23, the coalition of states filed a brief arguing that the preliminary injunction should be upheld. Mass Exclusions Executive Order NTEU’s Challenge to Bargaining Unit Exclusions Case name: NTEU v. Trump et al. Court: DC District Court UPDATE: On April 23, NTEU made a strong oral argument to the court that it must stop the government’s attempts to strip collective bargaining from most of the federal workforce. On Friday, April 25, the district court granted NTEU’s request for a preliminary injunction. Treasury's Request to Void IRS Contract Case name: Dept. of Treasury v. NTEU Ch. 73 Court: Eastern District of Kentucky UPDATE: The government continues its aggressive attack against NTEU, filing a motion for summary judgment on April 18. NTEU filed a motion to dismiss on April 21 and a countermotion for summary judgment on April 24. A hearing was held on April 25, after which an abbreviated briefing schedule was set for both parties to respond to the pending motions. AFGE’s Challenge to Bargaining Unit Exclusions Case name: AFGE, AFL-CIO et al. v. Trump et al. Court: Northern District of California UPDATE: The government filed an opposition brief to AFGE’s request for a preliminary injunction on April 25. Government's Request to Void Collective Bargaining Agreements Case name: Dept. of Defense et al. v. AFGE District 10 et al. Court: Western District of Texas UPDATE: On April 21, AFGE filed a motion to dismiss the case. CFPB Dismantling Case name: NTEU et al. v. Vought Court: DC District Court UPDATE: Briefing continues as to whether the government has violated the district court’s revised preliminary injunction. FMCS Dismantling Case name: AFL-CIO et al. v. Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Court: Southern District of New York UPDATE: On April 24, the government filed its opposition to the unions’ requested preliminary injunction.
