Fight Back Against Politicizing Federal Jobs: Comment by May 23
The Trump Administration is trying—again—to shift large numbers of employees into a new, at-will category where they can be more easily fired. In a shocking affront to the merit-based civil service, employees in this new category will not be protected from being fired for partisan reasons.Help us fight back against this attack on the civil service!
Tell OPM why a nonpartisan, merit-based civil service is essential to providing services to the American public. Right now, there are regulations protecting against efforts to replace federal employees with political loyalists. The Trump Administration proposes to take away these protective regulations. Now is our chance to speak directly to the administration and voice our objections to regulations that will politicize the workforce, weaken agencies and threaten services to the American public. Federal employees can submit comments to OPM in their personal capacity, by name or anonymously. The process is easy. The Federal Unionists Network (FUN) compiled a resource on how to craft an effective comment. The tip sheet includes FAQs, a list of the most effective arguments, example comments and helpful prompts for ChatGPT. The deadline for comments is Friday, May 23 at 11:59 p.m. Once you submit your comments, please copy and paste them into an email and send them to memberstories@nteu.org. We will showcase your comments anonymously on NTEU’s social media. You are not alone. NTEU is working with a coalition of allies to protect federal employees from relentless attacks against them and the civil service. Stand Strong Together. |
