United We Stand
As part of President Trump’s March 27 executive order (EO) seeking to end union representation and collective bargaining for dozens of agencies across the federal government, the administration has sought to prevent NTEU members from voluntarily paying dues. The obvious goal: to prevent us from fighting for you. Recently, as our court cases continue to play out, the National Finance Center, DOI’s Interior Business Center, and Defense Finance and Accounting Service all ceased collecting dues from NTEU members in agencies covered by the EO. These actions are intended to weaken NTEU and stop the fight we bring to uphold the law and restore your rights under our collective bargaining agreements. They believe if they stop us, they can continue the reckless assault on vital federal agency services, attacks on federal employees and the civil service, unimpeded. But we will never back down or let that happen. NTEU will stand strong together. We continue to fight the EO to restore your rights in court, including your right to voluntarily pay dues to NTEU as a member through a payroll deduction, to ensure our fight remains funded and strong. As our recent “Update on NTEU’s Exclusion Lawsuit” message stated, we have appealed a recent order to the full Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, seeking to have our preliminary injunction reinstated so that dues withholding will start up again. We expect to have more information about that appeal soon. We are contemplating our next steps if that court case was to prove unsuccessful for any reason. We will share more information with you when we are able. NTEU will never stop fighting these illegal actions so that the federal workforce can continue to protect and preserve our nation with dignity. |
