House Proposal Includes Significant Agency Funding Cuts

The 2026 funding bill proposed by House Republicans, and opposed by NTEU, includes significant spending cuts to several NTEU-represented agencies, including the IRS, Bureau of Fiscal Service, Securities and Exchange Commission and Federal Election Commission.

The bill also endorses the president’s proposed federal pay freeze and includes several harmful government-wide provisions, including one that would limit Thrift Savings Plan investment options by eliminating those that use environmental, social, and governance criteria in making investment decisions.

There is still time for NTEU members and your family and friends to tell their members of Congress to adequately fund agencies and protect crucial public services. Get involved and watch for updates and ways to get involved as the appropriations process continues on Capitol Hill.

Chapter Leaders Attend NTEU Organizing and Political Training

More than 100 NTEU leaders from around the country and through the federal government spent their Saturday at a virtual training session on how to help their members engage in the political and legislative process to advocate for our issues.

“As a career federal employee, union leader and citizen, I firmly believe that now more than ever we need to be engaged in our country’s political process,” said Robert Odom, president of Chapter 128 (CBP Headquarters), who attended the NTEU training
. “We need to hold our elected representatives accountable to work for us.”

The group was featured on the Jumbotron wearing their special orange and black NTEU shirts that Chapter 62 President Bill Larkin designed for the outing.

Leaders from Chapter 282 (FDA Headquarters), pictured bottom, visited members in Philadelphia for a meet and greet. They provided union updates and listened to concerns about the RIFs and other issues.
