Learn about the Serious Threat of Schedule Policy/Career

In January, the president signed an executive order creating a new employee classification for federal employees. The order instructs agency leadership to identify which jobs should be placed into the new Schedule Policy/Career category, including those jobs that are considered to have a “policy-determining, policy-making, or policy-advocating character.”

Just hours after the executive order was signed, NTEU filed a lawsuit to block it. The case is pending in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.

Resolutions Adopted at NTEU’s 2025 National Convention

Delegates to our 2025 National Convention adopted resolutions as part of their work at the biannual event this past week. These resolutions represent affirmation of actions that NTEU is committed to pursuing, which we do in our day-to-day negotiations, litigation, legislation, and representational work. These are issues we would often pursue in the normal course of business.

These resolutions will also serve as the starting point for resolutions for the 2027 National Convention. The Resolutions Committee will review, update and revise the resolutions, as appropriate, before recommending their renewed adoption by the delegates to the Convention.
