NTEU Chapter 296
National Park Service
  • 8/13/2025 - Share Your Story
    Aug 13, 2025

    NTEU is continuing its storytelling campaign in support of civil servants across the nation. We are in challenging times—and many are hesitant when sharing their stories or discussing the vital contributions they make to the American public. Below are some projects that NTEU is working on and ways we can work together to protect your identity for these projects:

    1. Faces of the Federal Workforce: We are still seeking stories for the Faces of the Federal Workforce campaign. If you are interested in writing a personal essay of 100-300 words, you may send it to memberstories@nteu.orgYou can submit the essay anonymously or you can identify yourself with your first name, last initial, and the state you live in. You can also record a brief video. If you’re concerned about discretion, our staff can blur your face, distort your voice, and anonymize aspects of the video to protect your identity.

    2. What Could Your Agency Do With $21 billion: A report released in late July stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) wasted $21.7 billion in taxpayer money in its first six months. We’re posing the question to our members: “What could your agency have done with $21 billion in six months to serve the American people?” You can email your written response with your first name and agency to mike.givens@nteu.org. Your response will be used to inform a social media campaign lifting up the services your agencies provide the public and how critical they are.

    3. Fed Facts: Public Service Announcement: We are working on a social media campaign to educate the American public about the work of the 38 agencies and departments we represent. The campaign will feature social media videos, graphics, and other materials that explain the work of our agencies and departments in very plain language. We need:
    • Members to record voiceovers for the videos (your face would not be on camera; just your voice);
    • Social media ambassadors for NTEU, sharing the materials far and wide with chapters and within your personal networks to help change the narrative around federal employees; and
    • Volunteers to offer real-life examples of how the work of their department or agency impacts the American public (your name will not be associated with the examples you give).

    The above would greatly help our campaign to continue telling your stories and relaying the contributions you make to the public. If you’re interested in one or more of the above, please email Mike Givens at mike.givens@nteu.org.
