CDC Guidance Causes Mask Confusion Last week the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released new guidance for fully vaccinated individuals regarding wearing face masks. Now, federal agencies are scrambling to catch up as they consider how the CDC guidance affects their individual worksites and spaces. The CDC now says that fully vaccinated individuals—those who are two weeks past their final vaccines—no longer have to wear masks indoors or outdoors. Those who are not vaccinated must continue to socially distance and wear an appropriate face covering. However, the federal government can still require masks in certain settings, including federal workplaces. That is what the agencies are working through right now. NTEU is in touch with the agencies where we represent employees to get information on if or how individual agency policy may change. As that information becomes available, we will share it with our members. |
