Administration Urges Agencies to Delay Penalties for Unvaccinated Employees

The administration is encouraging agencies to focus on education and counseling during the holiday season for most employees who have not complied with the vaccine requirement. And, to postpone subsequent enforcement actions, beyond counseling and written reprimands, until January.

NTEU has been urging the administration to take a more flexible approach to disciplinary actions given that most agencies have not made decisions on reasonable accommodation requests and, in some cases, the rollout of systems to request exemptions were delayed.

While agencies are not required to follow the advice, NTEU will be following up with agencies where the union represents employees to encourage them to adopt this approach.

More information is available on NTEU’s FAQ page.
