Income-Driven Student Loan Repayment Plans Available

NTEU is reminding our members that there are other paths to student loan forgiveness following the Supreme Court decision blocking the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plan. One option for federal employees with outstanding student loan debt is an income-driven repayment plan.

There are four income-driven repayment plans and most federal student loans are eligible for at least one. Employees earning up to $32,800 can have their repayments suspended, while employees with higher incomes can have their repayments reduced so they are no more than 10 percent of their discretionary income. Find out which income-driven repayment plan is best for you.

Federal employees can also apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which the Biden administration improved at NTEU’s urging.

NTEU also presses for student loan repayment programs for those we represent at the contract bargaining table.
