Subject: FYI: Temporary Moratorium on Implementation of Updated Telework Policy (BUEs)
Importance: High
Greetings Colleagues,
On August 19, 2024, I notified you of the requirement to implement changes to telework agreements for bargaining unit employees (BUEs) in accordance with the Department of the Interior’s updated telework policy.
Effective immediately, WASO directorates and National Capital Region will implement a moratorium on the enforcement of the new telework policy for bargaining unit employees. This action is necessary as the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) has filed grievances regarding the policy changes. The moratorium will remain in effect until the resolution of this grievance is fully achieved.
During this period, no further steps should be taken to adjust or enforce the telework agreements as outlined in the recent directive. This applies to all bargaining unit employees under your supervision.
We will keep you informed as developments occur and provide guidance on the next steps once the grievance process has concluded. Please ensure this message is communicated to all relevant parties within your areas of oversight.
Should you have any immediate questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to your servicing Employee and Labor Relations team or the People Group at HRD_People_Group@nps.gov.
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter,
Rita J. Moss
