House Remains Without a Speaker
The House remains without a Speaker as Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), current chair of the House Judiciary Committee, today fell short of the votes he needs on the first ballot. The House is expected to reconvene for further rounds of voting.

As the House remains without a speaker, no new legislation is being considered on the House floor, including spending bills for the new fiscal year that began on Oct. 1. The current continuing resolution (CR) expires on Nov. 17 and no appropriations bills have been cleared by both chambers.
