I have personal news I want to share directly with each of you. Today, I am announcing that I will not seek a third term as your National President. I will be retiring on Aug. 10, 2023, at the end of my current term.
I confess that this was a very difficult decision. NTEU means the world to me, and it is an honor to stand alongside you as we fight together to improve federal workplaces. It is time for me to devote the next chapter of my life to my family whose support has allowed me to give my all to our union for more than 33 years.
As outlined in NTEU’s Constitution and Bylaws, an election for National Officers will be conducted at our National Convention in August.
It is important to me that you understand how much you inspire me. You are dedicated public servants doing the real work of keeping this country moving every day. Your commitment to your jobs, your willingness to serve in good times and bad and your membership in NTEU make each of you an exceptional individual. Never forget that.
As I prepare to retire, I want to assure you that NTEU is the strongest we have ever been. We are resolute in our mission, and we are guided by our members, outstanding chapter leaders, a talented staff and an enduring commitment to dignity and respect in the federal workplace.
We still have many months together to continue our work and I look forward to meeting any challenges head on and delivering the best representation in the federal sector. Over 85 years, NTEU has built a well-deserved reputation as the best labor union in the federal government and your support is the backbone of everything we do.
Thank you for allowing me to represent you. It is a privilege to serve as your National President and you will always have my support.
