What do 180 Republican Members of Congress Think About You? Every year the Republican Study Committee, the most anti-federal employee flank of the Republican party, unleashes its plans to reduce funding and staffing for agencies and hack away at the pay, pension and benefits of federal employees. Before we review their 2025 plans, it’s worth noting the abrasive, inflammatory and insulting language they’re using these days to describe you and the work you do for our country. In a section focused on their complaint that too few federal employees are fired every year, the RSC declares, “the biggest losers in this system are hardworking taxpayers who are forced to subsidize the bloated salaries of unqualified and unelected bureaucrats working to force a liberal agenda on a country that does not want it.” Unfortunately, that is a sentiment endorsed by the 180 members of the House that make up the Republican Study Committee. These ideas represent the thoughts of 80 percent of all House Republicans who are members of the RSC, including the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson of Louisiana, which means they have incredible power in Congress. Congress controls much about your workplace, and our union is determined to identify those who want to help you and those who want to hurt you.
