NTEU Submits Testimony to House Oversight Subcommittee Hearing on Telework and the Future of the Federal Workforce SUMMARY: For a House Oversight Subcommittee hearing, NTEU submitted testimony that outlined telework and remote work in a post-pandemic workforce and provided further thoughts on the federal workforce of the future. Today, I submitted testimony to the House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on Government Operations at a hearing entitled “The Future of Federal Work.” In the testimony, I stated that the post-pandemic federal workplace needs an array of flexible work arrangements, fair pay, robust benefits and managers who work collaboratively with employees. Further, I told the subcommittee that while flexible work schedules, expanded telework and remote work programs will be key to recruiting and retaining employees, it is also critical for the federal government to provide employees better paying jobs and a strong benefits package. This includes ensuring strong retirement and health care benefits as well as paid family leave and creating and supporting a work environment that is based on merit, values its employees and engages with them and their representatives to solicit input and address workplace challenges in a cooperative way. A copy of my written statement is attached. As Congress and the administration look at ways to improve recruitment and retention, rest assured that I will continue to fight to ensure that all employees are treated fairly. Anthony M.
