Preliminary Court Approval of OPM Data Breach Settlement

A court has preliminarily approved a settlement between the U.S. Department of Justice and counsel for plaintiffs in the class action lawsuits arising from the OPM data breaches announced in June 2015. As explained in NTEU’s member message dated May 9, 2022, NTEU members are covered by the pending class action lawsuits, which were filed by multiple law firms and consolidated into one case, and may be eligible for compensation. 

The parties to the settlement have created a website with information about the proposed settlement. More information, including who to contact with questions, will be posted to the website on July 1. Employees who want to file a claim will be able to do so through the website after July 1, 2022. If you have questions, you will be able to submit those questions through the website after July 1.
