House Approves Protection for Unused Annual Leave
The House last week approved a provision that would allow federal employees to carry over more of their unused annual leave into 2021. An amendment, sponsored by Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) and added to the defense policy bill, would allow federal employees serving during the pandemic to roll over unused annual leave at the end of the year. Currently, most federal employees are only allowed to roll over 240 hours of paid annual leave per year. NTEU voiced strong support for the legislative fix in a letter to members of Congress, urging them to provide relief to federal employees who could not take leave because of stay-at-home orders and canceled vacation plans. NTEU is now urging the Senate to follow the House in approving the provision. |
