NTEU Fights for Remote Work at IRS Office of Chief Counsel

Despite the widespread success of remote work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRS Office of Chief Counsel has refused to bargain over an NTEU remote work proposal. Instead, Chief Counsel claims that NTEU’s proposed remote work pilot program violates its management rights and multiple government-wide regulations.

NTEU is asking the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) to resolve the dispute. On Tuesday, NTEU filed a brief with the FLRA responding to Chief Counsel’s position and arguing that our remote work proposal is lawful.

NTEU’s defense of our remote work proposal at Chief Counsel is part of the union’s broader effort to preserve workplace flexibility for federal workers.
