NTEU Continues Push for 3.2 Percent Federal Pay Increase in 2022

Today, the House Appropriations Committee continued to move forward a bill that defers to the 2.7 percent pay increase for federal employees allocated in President Biden’s budgetary plan for 2022. While 2.7 percent would provide pay parity with the military, NTEU is continuing to fight for a 3.2 percent pay increase as outlined in the FAIR Act.

“Federal employee pay has not kept pace with rising costs over the past few years and the gap between salaries in the private sector and federal government remains too large,” said National President Tony Reardon. “A 3.2 percent average pay hike is an acknowledgment of their commitment to public service and a step in the right direction toward closing the pay gap that harms the government’s efforts in recruiting and retaining talented employees.”
