White House 2023 Budget Proposal Values Federal Employees and Their Work President Biden yesterday released his proposed budget for fiscal year 2023, which includes robust increases to agency operating budgets and an average 4.6 percent pay raise for federal employees. Many of the agencies where NTEU represents frontline workers would see significant increases in their operating budgets under the president’s proposal, including the Environmental Protection Agency; the Department of Health and Human Services; and the Internal Revenue Service. The budget also calls for additional funding to support Customs and Border Protection employees at the ports of entry with investments in modern border security technology. NTEU will continue to work with Congress to provide additional funding for more CBP Officers, Agriculture Specialists and trade operations personnel that are needed to meet the hiring goals in their workload staffing models. While the White House proposal for a 2023 federal pay raise is a good starting point, NTEU will continue advocating for the average 5.1 percent increase as called for in the FAIR Act. Read more |
