Congressional leaders are still negotiating over the remaining six funding bills which cover the majority of NTEU members and are set to expire next Friday night, March 22. Lawmakers are hoping to finalize text and release the package on Sunday, which includes the Defense, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Labor-HHS-Education, Legislative Branch and State-Foreign Operations bills.
Reports indicate that most of the bills are very close to being finalized, but the Homeland Security bill still faces some challenges. While appropriators are continuing to work toward a full-year DHS bill, some have suggested a year-long Continuing Resolution may be necessary for that bill if the remaining issues cannot get resolved.
We must all remain engaged to ensure Congress acts in time and provides agencies with the funding necessary to meet their missions. Click here to learn more. I will continue to keep you updated on any developments. |
