After a Continuing Resolution, What’s Next for Government Funding? The House surprised the country on Saturday by passing a last-minute continuing resolution to fund the government through Nov. 17. Congress averted a government shutdown for now, but we’re not out of the woods yet. The House and Senate must now work to approve the 12 annual appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024 or approve another stop-gap measure that keeps the government funded. As Congress resumes funding negotiations, lawmakers remain divided on funding levels and major policy issues, including aid to Ukraine. We must remain engaged in this fight to ensure that agencies are appropriately funded before the Nov. 17 deadline. Watch for updates as Congress continues working through appropriations. |
