Congress Returns from Break with Full Schedule Lawmakers are back in Washington after the holiday recess for a packed three-week legislative session before they return to their states and districts for the August recess. Top of the agenda is making progress on the annual spending bills. Members of Congress are scheduled to head home again on July 28 and return after Labor Day, when they will have four weeks to reach an agreement on fiscal 2024 appropriations before the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30. Before the July Fourth holiday break, a House subcommittee passed a bill along party lines that would slash funding for the IRS and other NTEU-represented agencies, and rollback telework programs. NTEU continues to fight for adequate agency funding and a fair pay raise for 2024, while opposing policies that would harm federal employees and their families. |
