    Legislation Would Amplify Federal Employee Voice in Pandemic

    NTEU supports a Senate bill to give federal employees a stronger voice in protecting their health and safety at work. The Federal Labor-Management COVID Partnership Act, introduced by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI), would create labor-management task forces across government to review and provide input on policies concerning telework, leave, cleaning and training during the pandemic.

    Agency communication with NTEU during the pandemic has varied widely. While some agency leadership takes seriously the need to keep their employees informed, others have refused any such consultation.

    “That is why this legislation is so important,” National President Tony Reardon said. “NTEU has always believed that open dialogue between labor and management is the best way to make the workplace run more effectively and efficiently, by preventing problems and resolving conflict.” Read more
