Government funding will dominate the agenda as lawmakers return to Capitol Hill from the month-long August recess.
The Senate is back today and the House returns next week, leaving a narrow window to pass funding legislation before the Sept. 30 end of the fiscal year. Last week, the White House pushed Congress to pass a continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown and give lawmakers time to finalize longer-term spending legislation.
