House Appropriations Bills Threaten Agency Funding, Telework The appropriations process kicked into high gear last week, and NTEU is watching harmful legislation moving in the House. A House subcommittee passed a bill along party lines that would slash funding for the IRS and other NTEU-represented agencies, and rollback telework programs. NTEU, along with House Democrats, strongly opposes this bill. Given House Republicans' focus on cutting government spending, we were pleased that the bill was silent on a pay raise, meaning it defers to the president’s proposed 5.2 percent pay increase for 2024. Although this is a good start, NTEU continues to support the FAIR Act, which would provide an average 8.7 percent pay raise next year. |
