Yesterday, NTEU sent the attached letter to House and Senate leaders urging support for provisions to protect federal employees in the next COVID-19 relief bill, which is expected to be considered before the August recess. While Senate Republicans have been working with the White House to finalize their proposal, House Democrats passed their proposal, the HEROES Act, H.R. 6800, in May which contains many NTEU-backed provisions, including:
In addition to calling on Congress to include those provisions in the next bill, NTEU also urged inclusion of expanded weather and safety leave to cover childcare and other dependent care responsibilities arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as authority to allow federal employees serving during the pandemic to carry over unused annual leave. NTEU will continue to work with our allies on Capitol Hill and fight to protect your health and safety during this pandemic as you continue to work in service to the American people.
