Update on Government Funding for Fiscal Year 2022

With government funding set to expire on Friday night, February 18, 2022, Senate leaders are currently working to schedule a vote on the House-passed Continuing Resolution (CR), HR 6617, which would extend funding for FY 2022 through March 11, 2022. However, there are several Republican Senators who want votes on various amendments, which, if adopted, would force the House to vote on the CR once again. The House is currently out of session (although Committee work is taking place) and both the House and Senate are scheduled to be out of session next week for the Presidents Day recess. Recently, House and Senate Appropriations Committee leaders reached an agreement on top-line funding amounts and sent funding allocations for FY 2022 to the 12 Appropriations Subcommittees, who are currently drafting their respective bills and negotiating various provisions. As Congress and the White House continue to work on the outstanding funding issues, NTEU will continue to advocate against a shutdown and for congressional leaders to quickly resolve differences and provide increased funding to agencies for the remainder of the fiscal year. I will keep you updated on these developments. For more information click here. |
