    Pulse Check

As many of you may have heard, a potential second or weekly email to federal employees, asking “What you did last week” may be coming soon. It would not be shocking if this hit again over the weekend.

In preparation for this, here are a few things to keep in mind:

OPM can only direct agencies to act.

So, if you get an email from hr@opm.gov, NTEU’s guidance is that responses to OPM are voluntary.

However, if the agency or supervisor directs a response:

    • Follow the direct order from your chain of command.
    • If you are unclear about how to respond, ask for guidance from your supervisor.
    • Capture the guidance from your supervisor in an email when possible and follow those instructions.
    • Keep a paper copy of the response, for your records.

It is completely ridiculous that you may again be asked to engage in such a time-wasting and futile exercise. Instead of taking civil servants away from the important work they do every day, this administration needs to let you do your jobs!
