NTEU Wins Another Fight for Back Pay—More Than $21 Million
Employees at Customs and Border Protection represented by NTEU will share more than $21 million in back pay as part of a new settlement agreement.
The agreement implements an arbitration victory in one national grievance and settles other, related national and local grievances. The arbitration victory established that certain CBP Officers and Agriculture Specialists who take paid parental leave or other types of paid leave during regularly scheduled night hours are entitled to the same night differential pay that they would have received if they had worked those hours.
About 30,000 employees will be eligible for back pay with interest.
Holding agencies accountable for illegal pay practices can be a long battle, but NTEU continues the fight to get employees the pay they rightfully deserve.
