April 2, 2025
Yesterday, Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Jared Golden (D-ME) introduced bipartisan legislation (H.R. 2550) to undo President Trump’s Executive Order (EO) exempting many agencies from union representation and collective bargaining. In addition, a group of Republican House members sent a letter to President Trump asking him to reconsider and rescind the EO. We have seen an outpouring of opposition on the Hill to President Trump’s EO last week, but I wanted to flag these two actions in particular since they are some of the first actions by Republicans to push back on the President’s attacks on federal workers and their unions. The letter to President Trump was led by Representative Fitzpatrick and signed by Representatives Lawler (R-NY), Bacon (R-NE), Turner (R-OH), LaLota (R-NY), Garbarino (R-NY), Bresnahan (R-PA) and Chris Smith (R-NY). It is critical that we continue to make sure our members, and their families and friends, understand the consequences of the actions this administration is taking and urge them to join our efforts to fight back. Please click here to urge your members of Congress to cosponsor this bill and do everything they can to fight back against these unlawful attacks — and then make sure to share this with other members, family and friends and ask that they use the NTEU Action Center to take action too!
