NTEU Defends Representational Rights of DOE, NPS Employees
NTEU recently fought—and won—to ensure that two groups of employees have the rights, benefits and protections of union representation.
The union went to bat for remote work employees at the Department of Energy headquarters. NTEU filed a petition with the Federal Labor Relations Authority seeking to clarify that all employees assigned to DOE headquarters have the right to be represented by Chapter 213 (DOE DC). Despite a difficult fight, NTEU persisted and the FLRA granted the union’s petition.
At the National Park Service, management moved to block four Government Information Specialists from being represented by Chapter 296 (National Park Service Headquarters). NTEU refuted NPS’s claim that the nature of the employees’ work prevented them from being eligible to join the union, and management ultimately backed down.
NTEU is proud to work to protect and defend the right of federal employees to belong to a union.
